I’ve always rather worried that I’ve never been nearly cultured or intelligent enough to understand Bowie: the breadth of his work and the depth of the many layers of meaning each song evidently has can feel rather overwhelming. I’m hugely enjoying this guided tour of his work; peeling back some of those layers to find something more interesting below. Thank you for that!

Trust me, you are more than sufficiently cultured and intelligent to understand Bowie; and happily, the layers of meaning are often wrapped in nice tunes and a sense of drama and theatre and all that (otherwise I'd never have fallen so hard for it all). I can see how the sheer amount of stuff he did can feel bewildering but there are quite a few possible ways in, which I will gladly bore you with at some point. Thanks again!
